Terms of Use

Last updated: July 14, 2026

Welcome to OpenAstro. By using this website and our software, you agree to these terms. The plain-language version:

The software

OpenAstro software (AlpacaBridge, Ara, OpenAstro Linux) is open source and provided free of charge, "as is," without warranty of any kind, express or implied, including fitness for a particular purpose. Each project is governed by the license in its own repository; where these terms and a project license differ, the project license controls for that software.

Your hardware, your responsibility

Installing OpenAstro Linux or AlpacaBridge on a device (ASIAIR, iMate, StellaVita, Raspberry Pi, or anything else) may void the manufacturer's warranty and carries inherent risk. Follow the backup steps in each install guide before flashing. Open Astro and its contributors are not liable for damaged devices, lost data, lost imaging time, or any other damages arising from use of the software or these guides.

Website content

Site content (docs, guides, posts) is provided for general information and may change without notice. You may link to and share it freely. Product names and logos of third parties (ZWO, iOptron, ToupTek, and others) belong to their respective owners; their appearance here does not imply endorsement.

Purchases

Ara Pro is not yet on sale. When it launches, it will be a yearly subscription (pricing announced at launch) that covers use on all devices you own (Linux, macOS, and Windows), with all releases and updates included while the subscription is active. Full purchase, refund, and support terms will be published here before any payment is taken.

Changes

We may update these terms from time to time; the "last updated" date above reflects the current revision. Continued use of the site after changes means you accept the revised terms.
